Question #1:
My partner just recently started a full time position as a day trader, something which I know nothing about. His previous occupation was a full time online poker player. While he was able to sustain a decent living, he felt it was time to move on to a profession where he could earn serious cash (also, I suggested that a more stable income may come in handy for future mortgages, and kiddies).
I guess my question is- is day trading a profitable, long-term, occupation? As a previous poker player, who's had to rely on logic, expected values, math, and so forth; will his skill sets give him a leg up? At 27, is this an ideal career option?
Question #2:
Many of my friends have warned me about poker players, saying that they are liars and risky. Is this stereotype true? Are there any particular characteristics that I should look out for?
Question #3:
I've been playing no limit hold em for a little over two years now and I think I'm a decent player. I dream of one day entering a huge tournament like the WSOP.
So of course I have to build my bankroll. I rarely come out winning out at sit and go tables but I've been playing in tournaments online and about half the times I reach the final table. But I'm always short stack at the final table so it's really hard for me to win.
The cool thing is even if you lose you still make money just for reaching the final table.
I guess my question is do poker pros play more in tournaments or at the sit and go tables where the blinds never go up.
For me it seems safer to play in the tournaments because you can win money with out having to win it all and everyone has an equal chance at the beginning to win. I don't usually win at the sit and go because there is always somebody who has more money than me and can bully me.
I did mean cash ring games. Sorry about the confusion
Maybe I exaggerated a little but I do get to the final table quite often. Once I have a nice stack of chips I pretty much just wait til most people are knocked out, which is probably the reason I end up short stacked
Question #4:
I don't have any idea of how to play texas hold em or any other poker game. I want to learn how to become a great player though. I need to know rules, instructions, the objective of the game, and how to win.
Question #5:

Question #6:

Question #7:

Question #8:
Dead or alive...
Question #9:
tournament wins a "final table" dvd from a famous poker player with tips and strategies. What use could the winner have for the dvd? Shouldn't the losers get one instead?
ok, so I wasn't really being serious. Don't worry. I'm one of those people who believe in keeping score so there are winners and losers.
Question #10:

I fell in love with him and when he asked me if i would want to go out i was exstatic... so i immediatly said yes. Question #11:
Ok, I'm 17. I've have been playing poker for about 3 years. I understand all the risks that are associated with playing poker for a living and I accept them. When I turn 18 I want to go to an Indian Casino or Card room that allow young players. Which Casino/Card Room is closest to NJ that I can start my poker career at. Also if it is on an Indian reservation will I have to stay in a hotel (sounds expensive) or can I rent out an apartment. Please give me as much information as you can. THANK YOU!!
Well, Sandy I was hoping to find an apartment or stay at a hotel for a while. Like a few years. But I'm not sure how that works since, Indian casinos are on reservation I guess. So do they have houses I can rent out or somethin?
Question #12:
Question #13:
when playing poker, hold'em, i encounter some players that completely ruin the experience for all the rest, for kicks,by using the thinking button repetedly and freezing the action for all. how do u put a stop to it, a suggestion, eleminate the thinking button, this way it only allows for a bet within a few seconds.and eleminates the hogging of the table.
Question #14:
Two questions...
1) Is there a 'gambling college'?
I heard there was a school in New Jersey where they actually teach people how to have advantage over casinos, and there is a such thing as 'professional' players, who make careers out of it, as well as big bucks and multimillion dollar homes. There are a few games, such as blackjack, poker and vid poker where some strategies can be applied (ie card counting, high betting, probability analyzing, etc). Maybe it can be learned somewhere, I mean, there's enough gambling books to fill a library. It's mathemathics, not 'cheating' and 'busting', that's smoke and mirrors.
I tried googling "gambling college", but its a 'secret thing', and certain 'secret things' don't show up on google.
2) Can anybody show me how to count cards?
Thanks.
Question #15:
The modern form of cricket is generally regarded as having developed last Sunday night during prime time on Channel 9. There is evidence, however, that the sport is much older than this.
Anthropologists and archaeologists agree that certain quirks unique to cricket indicate that the sport was played in the Middle Ages and possibly as early as the late-Triassic period. There is speculation as to how a bipedia dinosaur may have held a cricket bat.
Specifically:
* the side-on action of the batsman and bowlers suggests that cricket pre-dates the evolutionary processes that caused the human eyes to move from either side of the head to the front of the face;
* the straight-arm action of (most) bowlers suggests that cricket may even date to a time before the development of the elbow in modern humans;
* there is no archaeological evidence for any other sport involving meals being consumed by the players during the match (with the obvious exception indoor sports such as darts and poker).
Being A Pom-
The batsman may be given out for being of English origin. This is seen as a time saving exercise and may explain why a South African currently has the best average in the English team. This is NOT allowed in Ashes games because Australia will be too dominant, not that it makes any difference.
Legionnaires Clause-
At no point are Roman Soldiers or Mercenaries allowed to enter the field of play. If at any time this does occur the batsman is then allowed to hit any member of the fielding team with his bat. This is a largely ignored and outdated rule that hasn't had to be put into force in over 17 years of international cricket.
source- uncyclopedia
it is supposed to be a funny article,a spoof

Question #19:
I found a website that promotes to have 4 computers and play at 6 seater tables, you are supposed to make fortunes playing like that.
But I think that it is a lot of bollocks, I'd say you would lose 3 times as fast. Unless you will play shorthanded sitngos with 3 computers perhaps, I don't know, I'd say it still wouldn't work as you would have to pay 3 buy ins.
What do you think
I don't mean to promote any of this stuff, this question has been created only out of interest as this matter came across my way and as a poker player I find it that it should be discussed.
